The Owls bounced back from their defeat at Wittenham with a fine team display at AFC Wallingford, beating the hosts 4-1, which would have been more had it not been for several top saves from the home keeper. On a sticky surface The Owls took a little time to get into their stride, but gradually through the half began to assert their authority on the game. Richard Wells had a right foot shot saved after 17 mins but the home keeper was unable to keep out Sam powell's follow up after Lewis Monaghan's initial effort was parried by the home keeper, having been put through on goal superbly by Daniel 'Slim' Horne. It was enevitable that that lead would be increased but it took just before the break to increase the advantage and what a goal it was. Keeper Jon Francis's kicked clearance was superbly brought under control by Richard Well turning his marker and threading an inch perfect pass to Lewis Monaghan who calmy sat the home keeper down and firing hard and low into the the net.
So 2-0 at the turn and every possibility of adding to it in the second half.
The Owls visibly bouyed by the second goal played some nice football and were brimming with confidence. It was only a question of time that the lead would be increased and Lewis banged home his second halfway through the half . The Owls were now in full flight. The combination of post and goalkeeper kept out further goals until Richard Wellls headed home superbly after 75 minutes. Before then only the combination of post and the hosts goalkeeper kept the score down. He performed further heroics late on saving Lewis Monaghan's penalty. A moral boosting win richly deserved, but made even more sweet by the level of performanceby the whole squad . Good to see 'Kings of Nath' back playing after a long lay off after a knee operation.
